Hi! I’m Teyloure Ring and I am a 2008 Hammie. I am passionate about intelligence, security and cultivating the next generation of intelligence professionals. I completed my undergraduate and graduate coursework at the University of Washington. In 2015, I earned a Master’s degree in International Studies: Russia, East Europe and Central Asia and a graduate certificate in International Development Policy and Management. My graduate research covered the integration of cyber tools in Russian information operations. After almost five years I decided to go back to school and am currently enrolled in an MBA program at Washington State University. I began my professional work experience at Microsoft while in graduate school. Working as a research fellow for Microsoft Trustworthy Computing, I evaluated cybersecurity risk in Sub-Saharan Africa. Separately, I was as an intelligence analyst for AS Solution, an executive protection company, embedded with Microsoft Global Security. After working as an intelligence analyst, I transitioned to strategic planning for the Microsoft Executive Protection, Event Risk Management and Intelligence teams. After three years of strategic planning, I moved to Amazon where I am currently a Threat Intelligence Analyst. In my free time, I enjoy going to the beach, bouldering and keeping up on the latest cybersecurity threats and trends.

I am passionate about studying international affairs and promoting cultural exchange between the U.S. and other countries. My love of studying cultures and languages stems from my experience as a proud American Latina studying U.S.-China relations by living in China and learning Mandarin during undergrad. After interning with the U.S. Department of State, I knew I wanted to improve U.S. relations with China and other nations by providing a new angle in diplomacy as part of the Foreign Service.

After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin as one of the Dean's Distinguished Scholars with a B.A. in International Relations and Global Studies, I continued my education at George Washington University's Elliott School to pursue a M.A. in International Affairs and a concentration in U.S. Foreign Policy. As part of the Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship, I will be appointed as a Foreign Service Officer upon the completion of my graduate studies.

My goal as a Hammie alumni is to share the lessons I've learned on my journey as a first-generation college student, who came from a low-income, single parent household and faced the adversity of educational inequity, in order to help build the next generation of leaders the world needs for peace and prosperity.

As an avid traveler, I have visited fourteen countries and created precious memories with people from all over the world. One of my fondest experiences was teaching my Chinese host family how to dance to Latin music, and then learning the art of making dumplings from them. Aside from traveling, I stay grounded through family time, foodie adventures, and fitness.
